북한의 상황

The Situation in the North

 

세번째 남북정상회담이 최근 개최됐고 두번째 북미회담결과를 실행 중에있습니다. 이번 해에는 상황이 급격히 돌아가고 있습니다. 문재인 대통령과 김정은이 세번째로 9월18-20일 평양에서 만났고, 곁들여 백두산 천지를 방문했습니다. 두 퍼스트 레이디들이 오랜 벗처럼 일상적인 대화를 나누는가 하면 단체사진 촬영 중 손가락 하트를 만들고, 문대통령은 천지에서 물을 뜨기도 하며 여행 모든 일정에 감성적인 면이 많이 부각되기도 했습니다. 행사 전반을 보여주는 멋진 사진들을 여기서 감상하시기 바랍니다. 남북이 판문점협정을 단계적으로 실행하고 있다는 점을 보여주고 싶어하는 한편, 북은 이 기회에 비핵화에 대해 더 많은 약속을 하기도 했습니다. 북한 사람들 중 다수가김정은이 이 프로그램을 진척시킬 능력이 있다는 데에 희망을 걸고 있다는 증거가 보입니다. 동시에 서구 분석가들은 남, 북한, 미국사이에 새롭게 전반적인 정비를 할 수 있는 큰 기회로 보고 있습니다. 물론 정상회담 중에는 군인들을 군대에서 제대 시키지 않고 보안을 철저히 하였습니다. 문대통령은 새로 개선된 우호적인내용의 집단 체조에 주빈으로 참석하기도 했습니다. 문대통령은 즉석 연설을 하여큰 박수를 받았습니다. 10월에 있을 다음 정상회담엔 김정은이 서울로 온다는 말이 돌고 있습니다. 미국 국무장관 마이크 폼페이오가 다음 방북 예정을 논의하기 위해 북한의 동급 관리와UN 총회 부가회의에서 만난 후 팔로우 업하고 있습니다. 문대통령과 트럼프 대통령도 비핵화에 대한 논의를 위해 회담을 가졌습니다.

Well, the 3rd 2018 North-South Summit has just occurred and US-NK 2 is in the works. Things have been moving fast this year. The third meeting of South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un took place in Pyongyang on September 18-20 with a side trip to Mt. Paek-tuand Lake Heaven (Chon-i) at its summit. The whole trip was very emotional with the first ladies of both North and South chatting away like old friends and President Moon stooping down to collect some water from the lake followed by a group photo with everyone showing finger hearts. Here is a collection of great pictures from the whole event. North Korea took the opportunity to make more promises about denuclearization while both wanted to show that they were taking stepsto implement their Panmunjeom Agreement. There is evidence that many of the people of North Korea are putting a lot of hope in Kim's ability to move the program forward. At the same time, Western analysts see great opportunity for a whole new alignment between NK, SK and the US. Of course, security for the event was tight including no soldiers being dischargedduring the summit. President Moon was also guest of honor at the newly revamped friendliermass games. He gave an impromptu speech to great applause. Word is out that the next summit may occur in October with Kim Jong-un coming to Seoul. There has been some follow-up on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly where US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with a North Korean counter-part to discuss his next visit to the North. Moon and Trump also metto discuss denuclearization.

 

남북은 노무현대통령과 김정일의 정상회담과 2007년 10월 4일 선언을 위한 공동기념식을거행하기 위해 계획을 세웠습니다. 남한은 10월 4-6일 행사에 참여하기 위해 150명으로 구성된 대표단을 보낼 예정입니다.

There are plans for a joint North-South commemoration of President Roh Moo-hyun's and Kim Jong-il's summit and the October 4, 2007 declaration. The South will be sending 150 delegates to Pyongyang for the October 4-6 event.

 

대북 제재 중 나타난 흥미로운 부작용은 수출금지로 인해 북한 내 전력 발전을 위해 더 많은 석탄을 확보하게 되었고 생선이나 다른 산물을 더 많이 소비할 수 있게 되었다는 것입니다. 하지만 아직 지역 전력 공급에는 문제가있습니다. 돌격대를 선발해서(무급으로)김정은의 건축 프로젝트를 완수하기 위해 건축일을 수행하게 하는 일이 계속되고 있습니다. 또 평양의 사회생활에 나타난 공공연한 큰 변화는 새로운 데이트 문화입니다.

An interesting side-effect of the sanctions against North Korea is that more coal is available for domestic power productionand more fish, etc. is available for consumption at home because it can't be exported. However, there are still regional power supplyissues. "Shock Troop" construction mobilizations (unpaid) continue in order to complete Kim Jong-un's list of projects. Still, there have been some major changes in social lifein Pyongyang where a new dating culture is on public view.

폼페이오 미국무장관이 낙관적인 태도를보임으로써 터키의 리라통화의 가치가 현저히 상승하게되면서 앤드류 브런슨이 가택연금으로 부터 풀려날 희망이 보입니다. 그러나 터키 에르도안 대통령은 10월 12일 다음 재판 때 정치인이 아닌 법원이 최종 결정을할 것이라고 말합니다. 이 날짜를 기억해주시기 바랍니다. 브런슨 선교사가 석방되도록 기도를 계속해야 합니다.

There is new hope for Andrew Brunson to be released from house imprisonment in Turkey with Secretary of State Pompeo expressing an optimism that caused Turkey's weak lira to grow in value significantly. However, Turkish President Erdogan says that the court, not politicians, will decide at their next session on October 12. Keep that date in your mind. We need to keep up the prayers that Missionary Brunson will be released.

 

북한에 억류 되있는 데일리NK 기자 최송민(가명)과 6명의 한국인을위해 계속 기도합니다. 이에 대해 북한은 답하지 않고 있습니다. 억류됬거나 풀려난 목사들과 다른 이들에 대한 정보가 여기 있습니다.

We continue to pray for six South Koreans held in the North as well as Daily NK journalist, Choi Song Min (alias). North Korea has not been responsive. Here's information on the pastors and others who have been detained and released.

 

생명의강 학교

The River of Life School

 

학생들, 교사들과 많은 부모들이 이번 11월 첫주에 공연할 뮤지컬 준비를 하느라 많은 수고를 하고 있습니다. 유명한 연극을 재구성해서 새로 작곡한 음악과 가사를 준비하고 있습니다. 안믿는 청중들에게도 전달될 수 있는 긍정적인 메시지를 줄 것입니다. 몇몇 공립학교와 교회에서 공연할 예정입니다. 이 뮤지컬을 통해 이웃들을 축복하길 원합니다.

Students, faculty and many parents are heavily involved in preparing for the musical to be performed the first week of November. They are re-working a popular play with original music and lyrics. It will have a positive message that can be delivered to a secular audience. Several performances are scheduled in both public schools and churches. We want to bless our neighbors through this production.

 

한 가지 중요한 소식은 수시지원 과정을 밟고 있는 세명의 고3 학생들에 대한 것입니다. 대입신청서 마감일을 맞추기 위해 큰 수고를 했습니다. 곧 면접을 보게 됩니다.

The other big thing going on is the early enrollment process for our three seniors. They have been working hard to meet application deadlines. Initial interviews are coming up.

네번째강 프로젝트와 삼수령센터

The Fourth River Project and the Three Seas Center

 

새로 상수도를 설치하는 일에 도움을 주신 분들께 감사드립니다. 혹한이 시작되기 전에 상수도관을 설치할 수 있길 바랍니다. 시간이 촉박합니다. 이 일이 잘 진척되도록 기도해주시기 바랍니다. 이 작업을 할 수 없게 되면 거꾸로 원상태로 돌아가 작년 겨울 큰 어려움을 준 현재의 상수도에 다시 작업을 해야만 합니다 .

We are grateful to those who have contributed for our new water system. We are hoping to install it before it gets too cold to work. It's getting tight. Pray that it goes through. If we are unable to do this work, we will need to go back and re-work the existing system that gave us so much trouble last winter

 

다른 한편으론, 저희 사역과 동역할 파트너들을 찾고 있고 공동체마을에 대한 계획을 점검하고 있습니다. 이 마을을 위해 내년 봄 건축공사를 시작하길 바랍니다. 준비해야할 것들이 무척 많습니다. 이 모든 과정을 위해 기도해 주십시오.

In the meantime, we are continuing to explore new partnerships and reviewing our plans for Community Village. We hope to begin construction on this next spring. There is a lot of preparation to be done. Please keep it all in prayer.

 

뒤를 돌아보면서, 하나님께서 하신 일들에 대해 관심있는 분들이 계실 것 같아 ‘삼수령 이야기’라는 간략한 보고서를 준비했습니다. 지난 10년간 재정보고서도 함께 있습니다. 여기서 영어나 한국어로 읽으실 수 있습니다.

Looking back, we have prepared a brief report, The Three Seas Story, for anyone interested in what God has done. It also includes a financial report covering the past ten years. You may read it here in English or Korean.
